    What is the Junior League?

Our Junior League is a hybrid instructional and recreational league for teens. We provide a fun, safe atmosphere where teens can experience curling in a friendly environment.

We offer instruction and coaching to all levels of interest - from recreational to competitive.

Our program teaches the rules and strategy of curling through lessons, drills and gameplay. In addition to regular league practice and gameplay, we host/attend Friendlies with neighboring clubs, host our own Junior Bonspiel each year and encourage our curlers to participate in other club’s Junior bonspiels.

Our Juniors range in skills from brand new curlers to curlers who compete in bonspiels and play in our adult leagues.

Our goal is to develop lifelong curlers, build self-confidence, foster teamwork abilities, and promote friendship with other Junior curlers, all while having fun.

What is the age range for Junior League?

We welcome curlers ages 13-18 to participate in our Junior League. Slightly younger curlers may participate with the approval of the Junior League Director based on the curler’s maturity level and ability to use the 42 pound stones. See Little Rockers for ages under 13.

Ok, so what is Little Rockers?

Little Rockers is an introductory program for curlers ages 8-12 similar to the Junior program. Most Little Rockers will use smaller and lighter stones and a halfway sheet. Our older Little Rockers may advance to use the full sheet and/or full size stones. Our Little Rockers will learn the rules and strategy of curling through lessons, drills and gameplay.

Our goal is to ignite a spark of passion for curling, build self-confidence, foster teamwork abilities, and promote friendship with other youth curlers. While our focus is on fun at this level, we are developing curlers that we expect will advance to our Junior League.

What is the cost to curl in Little Rockers and Junior League?

    Little Rockers $75

    Junior League Restricted $100

    Junior League Full $150

What type of equipment is required for Little Rockers and Junior League?

We provide all the equipment except for helmets. Little Rockers and Juniors will need a clean pair of sneakers to keep our ice clean and layered warm comfortable clothing. We strongly recommend that any curler under the age of 12 wear a properly fitted current CSA or HECC approved helmet rated for ice sports. Parents/Guardians will be expected to sign a helmet waiver if they chose not to have their child under 12 not wear a recommended helmet. Nutmeg Curling Club does not provide helmets.

    CIT Program

The Coach in Training (“CIT”) Program is designed to advance the leadership, instructional and management skills of our experienced junior curlers through the development of the next generation of curlers. CIT’s will provide hands-on instruction, role modeling and promotion of the sport of curling within our Little Rocker program. CIT’s will be fundamental in achieving our Little Rocker program goals of igniting a spark of passion for curling, building self-confidence, fostering teamwork abilities, and promoting friendship with other youth curlers, all while having fun.
