Many people have been affected by the sudden passing of Don Nicholson. Members of the club have asked that we do something to remember Don and recognize his many contributions to the Nutmeg Curling Club.
The Curling Club Board has decided to name the FirstEvent of the Blazing Leaves in his memory - The Donald Nicholson, Jr. Blazing Leaves First Event. An appropriate plaque/trophy will be created and the Blazing Leaves First event winner's names will be added each year, similar to the Golden Handle.
If anyone would like to make a monetary contribution of any amount, to cover the cost of this award, please make your checks payable to CT Curlers, Inc. In the check memo section, pleasewrite 'Don Nicholson Memorial'. Checks may be left at the club for Nigel Lucas, treasurer, in the metal box attached to the inside of the supply room door, left of the bar.
It is anticipated that we will collect more money than is needed for a plaque/trophy, any additional moneys will be sent to the Vermont Adaptive Skiing and Sports program, in Don's name on behalf of the Nutmeg Curing Club as requested by the family.
